Jaffar Aly is an Anthropologist and Visual Artist. Traversing academia and art, he produces stylised portraits using found materials, decentring established routes of knowledge production in academia. His works speak to integral issues in our current socio-political landscape; with particular focus on the embodied and lived experiences of those from the diaspora. Alys’ works are a sensitive consideration of the human experience. Charged with energy, they are produced using fast, assertive, and expressionist brushstrokes.
